Mattress Tips

Mattress maintenance

Here are some simple maintenance rules that will make the life of your mattress last longer:

AIRING

If we make the bed every day as soon as we get up, the mattress will not be able to perspire and will begin to accumulate odors. In addition, in seasons such as summer, when we sweat so much, it is advisable to do this daily aeration, from thirty minutes to an hour approximately.

FLIPING

Since all parts of our body do not weigh the same and our companion, if there is one, will have a different weight than ours, it is advisable to turn the mattresses over to avoid deformation. The mattress should be turned every three months from left to right and from head to toe (except for the Memory model mattresses, which should only be turned upside down).

CLEANING

Clean them periodically using a vacuum cleaner to remove dust mites and dust.

THE CHOICE OF MATTRESS

THE CHOICE OF THE MATTRESS IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR A GOOD REST TO CHOOSE THE MATERIAL AND THE HARDNESS OF THIS. THERE IS NO MATTRESS THAT CAN ELIMINATE OUR DISCOMFORT OR AILMENTS TO 100%, SINCE MIRACLES DO NOT EXIST, AT LEAST IN TERMS OF REST, BUT A GOOD MATTRESS WILL HELP US TO REST BETTER AND GREATLY ALLEVIATE OUR BACK PROBLEMS, INSOMNIA, ETC..

WHAT SHOULD OUR FUTURE MATTRESS LOOK LIKE?

Specialists recommend that the optimal mattress for a good rest should be softer in some areas than in others, i.e., it should yield in the heavier areas such as the shoulders and pelvis and be harder in the lighter areas of the body. A good mattress is one that supports the entire spine when lying on your back or side. The mattress should never be too hard or too soft, since if it is hard it makes the back tense and if it is soft it makes the back hang and the muscles tense to restore the natural position of the body.

IMPORTANCE OF OUR CHOICE

One third of our life is spent in bed. Something as important as sleep is not only a question of quantity, but also of quality. It is useless to sleep eight hours if we have an inadequate mattress or pillow that prevents optimal rest. A good day depends on having had a good night’s sleep, and this depends on a good sleeping equipment. Do not skimp on the purchase of the components of your bed, consider this expense as an investment in health.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF MATTRESSES RECOMMENDED:

SPRING MATTRESSES

They are the best sellers, although this does not mean that they are the best. Spring mattresses offer different degrees of firmness depending on the layers between the spring casing and the outer fabric, as well as depending on the type of springs they have, biconical, pocket springs, etc. In this type of mattresses we will have to resort to a high range if we want to get a good rest, taking into account that the most recommended will be those that combine springs with Latex or Viscoelastic. Recommended type of base = Upholstered Base.

LATEX MATTRESSES

Quality-Price, they are a good investment for our rest. This type of mattresses have an excellent adaptation without losing the necessary firmness for a good rest (since they are non-deformable), whether we sleep on our back or on our side, the result will be adequate. Latex mattresses are anti-allergic, resistant to dust and dirt as they do not have static charges, they are athermic adapting to our body temperature, they have a longer duration as they do not have any type of mechanism as is the case of spring mattresses and they are also the best choice for people who sweat a lot or who have to spend a long time in bed. Latex mattresses withstand hydrolysis, so they can be washed, even with soap or steam. Recommended type of base = Multilayer bed base.

VISCOELASTIC MATTRESSES

Viscoelastic mattresses, although a little harder, are very similar to latex mattresses in their characteristics and properties. The core of the mattress is formed by two parts; an upper one formed by the material called Viscolastic that adapts to the body in a very pleasant way and providing a feeling of weightlessness, and a lower one that acts as a support for the first one and is formed by a hard rubbery surface called HR-35. Recommended type of base = Upholstered base or Multilayer bed base.

IDEAL MATTRESS AND BOX SPRING DIMENSIONS

The ideal measures can not always be met mainly due to the measures of the room where the rest equipment will be installed or that even fitting this, sometimes we give more importance to aesthetics than to our health or comfort. The recommended width would be 90 cm for single beds and 150 to 180 cm for double or double beds. In both cases the length should always be at least 10 cm more than the height of the person who will sleep on it.
